1. Do you photograph using film or digital capture?
2. How many images do you shoot and how many would we receive?
3. Some film photographers offer their negatives for sale. Do you sell your digital images?

Answers

1. Do you photograph using film or digital capture?

I photograph using digital capture.  Digital photgraphy provides me the flexibility to capture spontaneous events.  It also allows me to experiment and go beyond the limitation of photographing with film.  Life occurs unexpectedly.  It doesn't wait for changing film or switching from black and white to color, etc.

Would you want me to miss the look of surprise when your older boy shows his new baby sister the ladybug he just caught?

Are you still unsure about digital vs. film?  I invite you to come an view my work in person before you make your decision.

2. How many images do you shoot and how many would we receive?

With digital capture, photographers have the capacity to get a large quantity of images.  However with that said, large numbers don't necessarily equate to high quality.  Remember the saying "Even a blind squirrel finds a nut now and then."  In other words, if you shoot enough, you are bound to come out with a few good images.

Professional photographers that began with film have learned to be quick at composing and exposure.  The number of exposures is fixed with a roll of film hence the film-trained photographer learns to be efficient and economical in their shooting style.  Why am I telling you this?  So as not to be too impressed by the high number of images a photographer says they shoot per event.  Focus on the quality of their work not on the quantity they shoot.

Too many images similar in nature only dilute the impact of those images.  There is a subtle art to editing - this is why it is recognized by an Academy Award category.  A photographer is just being lazy if they do not edit your project for its optimal presentation.

Do you need one more thing on your "to do" list?  Do you want to sift through hundreds of images, most looking very much the same?  Talk about sensory overload!  You are already overwhelmed with work and life's other duties.  You get my expertise in editing your project.  I work with you to hopefully make your image selection decision process easy and enjoyable.

3. Some film photographers offer their negatives for sale. Do you sell your digital images?

A digital reprint file of an image is available for purchase.  Like all my reprints, this image is retouched, meaning it is dust spotted, enhanced to remove blemishes, stray hairs, lighten dark circles under eyes, slightly whiten teeth, etc.  Dont' get any wild ideas like making someone look 20 pounds thinner or changing a blonde into a redhead!  The key work is subtle not extreme make over.  This product is a CD containing a large sized file suitable for printing a 5x7 print and a small sized file suitable for attaching to an email or post on a  website.
